Priority: Focus on Women

Women have not been considered credit-worthy inTanzania because they are poor and have little or no history of managing loan proceeds. However, these same women generally form the backbone of their family, spending much of their waking and sleeping hours trying to address the economic, social, health and educational concerns of their families. Their lack of access to capital makes these activities even more challenging.

Empowerment Enterprises of Africa is committed to empower struggling women to help themselves. Through EEA women will have access to loans to build a business based upon their skills and interest, generate an income of their own, increase their family’s wealth, protect their children’s health, pursue educational advancement, and ensure their families safety.

Our focus on women includes other vulnerable groups:

  • Youth,
  • Women living with disabilities,
  • Women living with HIV/AIDS and
  • Older women

The EEA would thereby contribute its share to achieve the MDGs. It focuses on the first goal (to end poverty and hunger until 2015), through empowering women and thereby improving community and family life.
